How do I start following Jesus?

Faith & Doubt2 min readRomans 10:9

You do not need a clean record, better vocabulary, or a church background. You need to turn around and trust someone. Romans 10:9 puts it plainly: confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, and you will be saved.

That is a small sentence and a large life. It means admitting you have gone your own way, believing that Jesus’ death and resurrection are enough to make you right with God, and beginning to follow him as Lord — not just as an idea.

Practically, three things help in the first week. Tell someone out loud; faith that stays secret stays theoretical. Read one Gospel slowly — John is a good start. Find a church where Scripture is taught and say, “I’m new to this.”

You will still have questions. You will still get things wrong. Following Jesus is not a test you pass once; it is a direction you keep walking. If you have just started, we would genuinely like to hear about it.
